Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 4, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Unchain: Break Free ("we," "our," or "us"), a service provided by Nomadan Apps Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App") available on the Apple App Store, and our website (tryunchain.app), collectively referred to as the "Service."

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in an open and transparent manner. Given the sensitive nature of addiction recovery, we have designed the App with privacy as a core principle -- the App does not require traditional account registration, and most sensitive personal data stays on your device. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Anonymous Device Identifier

The App does not require account registration, email addresses, or passwords. When you first use the App, a unique anonymous device identifier is generated on your device. This identifier is used to associate your activity with community features, the leaderboard, and subscription management. It cannot be used to identify you personally.

2.2 Display Name

A randomly generated display name (e.g., "BraveLion_42") is automatically assigned to you for community features and the leaderboard. This name is not linked to your real identity. You may change it once per week.

2.3 Recovery Data (Stored Locally)

Your most sensitive personal data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. This includes:

  • Journal entries
  • Urge logs and trigger tracking
  • Personal goals and reasons for recovery
  • Detailed mood and check-in history
  • Vulnerable time data
  • Onboarding quiz answers
  • Reading progress and article history
  • Achievement data
  • Daily pledges

2.4 Data Synced to Our Servers

The following data is transmitted to our servers to enable community and leaderboard features:

  • Anonymous device identifier (for user identification)
  • Display name (for community and leaderboard)
  • Streak day count (for leaderboard ranking -- not detailed streak history)
  • Check-in date (to update leaderboard -- not mood details)
  • Community posts (title, body, tag, anonymity preference)
  • Comments on community posts
  • Post likes and reports
  • Push notification token (if notifications enabled)

2.5 Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (provided by Google) to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. This data is collected in aggregate and does not personally identify you. It may include:

  • Device type and model
  • Operating system version
  • App usage patterns and feature interactions
  • Crash logs and error reports
  • General geographic region (country-level)
  • App session duration

We do NOT track or collect any specific recovery data, journal content, streak details, urge information, or mood data through analytics.

2.6 Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details, billing address, or financial information. RevenueCat receives your anonymous device identifier to manage your subscription status. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the App's functionality
  • To manage your subscription status via RevenueCat
  • To display anonymous community content to other users
  • To operate the leaderboard and display streak rankings
  • To improve the App through aggregated, non-identifying analytics
  • To identify and fix crashes, bugs, and performance issues
  • To send push notifications such as streak reminders (with your consent)
  • To protect the safety and security of the App and its users
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do NOT use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, data brokering, or selling to third parties.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the App:

  • Apple App Store -- Payment processing and subscription billing
  • RevenueCat -- Subscription management using anonymous device identifiers
  • Firebase (Google) -- Aggregated analytics and crash reporting

We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency), or if we believe disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with a legal obligation; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; (c) prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service; (d) protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via the App or our website before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

5.1 Data Retention

Local recovery data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data. Server-side data (community posts, leaderboard entries, display name) is retained as long as your device identifier remains active. Inactive accounts may be purged after an extended period of inactivity.

5.2 Data Deletion

You may request deletion of all server-side data associated with your device identifier by contacting us at nomadanapps@gmail.com. Upon receiving your request:

  • Your community posts, comments, leaderboard data, and device identifier will be permanently deleted from our servers
  • Your subscription will not be automatically canceled -- you must manage this through Apple's App Store settings
  • Local data on your device is your responsibility to delete (uninstall the App)
  • Some anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained as it cannot be linked back to you

We process all deletion requests within 30 days in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
  • Secure server infrastructure with access controls
  • Privacy-by-design architecture -- most sensitive data stays on your device
  • Anonymous identifiers instead of personal information for all server interactions

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Sensitive Data Handling

We recognize that information related to addiction recovery is highly sensitive. Our approach to protecting this data:

  • Recovery data (streaks, journals, moods, urges) is stored locally on your device by default and never sent to our servers
  • Community posts use randomly generated display names with no link to your real identity
  • We do not create health profiles, behavioral profiles, or addiction risk assessments of users
  • We do not share any health-related information with advertisers, insurers, employers, or any other third parties
  • Analytics data is aggregated and never includes individual recovery details, journal content, or mood data
  • Only the minimum data necessary for community and leaderboard features is transmitted to our servers

8. Push Notifications

If you opt in, we may send push notifications including streak reminders, motivational messages, and service updates. Push notification tokens are stored on our servers to deliver these messages. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings or the App's notification settings. We do not use push notifications for advertising or promotional purposes from third parties.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17 due to the mature subject matter related to addiction recovery. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has accessed the App, please contact us at nomadanapps@gmail.com so we can take appropriate action.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access -- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification -- Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure -- Request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction -- Request that we restrict processing of your data
  • Portability -- Request transfer of your data in a structured format
  • Objection -- Object to our processing of your data
  • Withdraw Consent -- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

You can also opt out of analytics collection by disabling it in your device settings and manage your subscription through Apple's App Store settings.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at nomadanapps@gmail.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

11. International Data Transfers

Our servers may process data in various locations. When your data is transferred outside your country of residence, we take appropriate steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Third-party services such as Firebase and RevenueCat may process anonymized or aggregated data in their own data centers, including in the United States.

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect and how it is used; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) opt out of the sale of personal information -- we do not sell personal information; (d) not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. For significant changes, we may also provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
